Engaging Tibet: Bridging through Social Innovation

Tuesday, March 28, 2017

6:00 - 7:30PM in Sociology Psychology 130

Are you interested in learning about social innovation in Tibet or starting an NGO in the remote region of the himalayas?

Hear from Losang Rabgey, National Geographic Emerging explorer and the co-founder of an NGO called Machik (based in DC). Machik is well known in the Tibetan community and beyond for its unique approach to “Social Innovation” in solving environmental and social issues in the conflicting region such as Tibet. Machik's mission is to incubate social innovation for Tibet and its programs range from education to women’s empowerment, from supporting social innovation to civic engagement. Dr. Rabgey will speak on Machik’s approach and results from nearly 20 years of work in a challenging context of uncertainty in contemporary Tibet. See attached flyer.
